over the past few years i heard many people praising this book, but i also heard many people criticizing this book. i was surprised at how much "buzz" this book was able to create. i finally got around to reading it myself. to be honest it would be easy to criticize this book & even poke fun at it, but i am trying not to be a "hater".i enjoyed the book because it forced me to think about a topic that i don't usually think about. this book discusses what it means to be a man.
in the last chapter John Eldredge quotes another author (Gil Bailie) who shared a piece of advice given to him by a spiritual mentor:
Don't ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
that was a great quotation which made me think about my own life (or lack there of). i am praying that God would make me a person who has truly come alive because of the One i am serving.
