it's already 2008

on Christmas day, Gideon was baptized along w/15 other infants at our church. i can't believe that he is already 7 months old. at the Christmas service, i prayed in korean & english. suhee helped me translate the prayer into korean & i practiced it for the service. after i prayed, our senior pastor made me laugh because he said that my prayer reminded him of the american missionaries who went to korea & tried to speak in korean.

after Christmas, i had the chance to speak for a youth retreat (joongbu church in ny). in the summer of 2001 i spoke for their high school retreat. that was 6.5 years ago. some of the retreat counselors remembered me from the summer of 2001, back when they were in high school. it was very meaningful for me to do this retreat again after so many years. & it was at the same retreat center (america's keswick). deja vu. it made me reflect on the last 6.5 years of my life, & how much i have changed.

yesterday we took suhee's sister & cousin & cousin's son into the city. we did some of the typical touristy things (fao schwarz, top of the rock, katz deli, soho). it was awesome because i was able to find free parking on the street all day. top of the rock was pretty nice; i can see why people say it's better than going up the empire state building. we also got to meet an old friend, daniel yu. he lost about 30lbs since we last saw him & he was looking a lot more stylish. & we got to meet his girlfriend. crazy world. but it was really good to see him. then i got reminiscent w/him talking about how i met him 6 years ago in korea, & how much our lives have changed since then.
