last weekend, suhee & i attended a birthing class. it was amazing to learn more about it. every birth truly is a miracle. in the past i've heard the "argument from design" used to prove the existence of God. for example, the human eye is so complex that someone must have designed it. it would take even more faith to believe that the human eye is a product of evolution. learning about childbirth made me think about the "argument from design". the way that a woman gives birth is so complex & so amazing, i have to believe that only the almighty God could have designed it that way.
apparently one in three babies in the U.S. is delivered by cesarean section. in great britain 55% of babies are delivered by c-section. obviously a natural birth is generally safer for the mom & the baby. it's confusing to know when to argue against having a c-section, & when to give in to the doctor's advice.

C-sections are more prevalent in Asian women too. If you are having the baby at Kaiser the rate gets even higher because they push people to get a c-section instead of waiting it out. They were so trying get Mary to get one earlier. She was tough, She held out for 17 hours before she finally relented.
17 hours. that's amazing.
you are mistaken my love. kaiser rates are quite similar to the rest of the country....
by the way pastor Joe, could you let us know where you got that worldwide average year a woman breastfeeds? i just can't believe it.. is it in her lifetime? or per child?
hey mary. i got that information from the infant care class that we took a few weeks ago. they didn't really cite a source for those stats. & it referred to the average number of years that women breastfeed each child. suhee & i enjoyed the infant care class more than the birthing class.
